Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19th, 1946, from Locust Ridge Tenn into a struggling family that would one day comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the difficulties of her life with her vast and imaginative imagination. Songs were being written by her before she could read or write. When she was 8, she got the first electric guitar. Then she began singing for a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The first album she recorded was during the same year with Gold Band Records, a small, independent label. While still in highschool, she was able to make her mark locally but dreamed about a larger stage. She relocated to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first album to be charted on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers to be a part of his syndicated show from the beginning. Parton took the job in 1966. She then joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. In 1974, she quit the show because of the success of her individual songs, such as Joshua Coats Of Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. Parton composed I Will Always Love You for Wagoner after their breakup. It reached No. 1 for the very first time in 1974.
