Her first appearance as an actor in 1997 at age 13. She made her acting debut at age 13 in 1997. Following her studies and acting as a background actor on Canadian shows like Road to Avonlea, Harriet the Spy and Goosebumps and was offered speaking roles on the Canadian horror series Are You scared of the Dark? and Goosebumps. The series was aired on YTV. "2" After commercials and role in Goosebumps and other film, including The Dresden Files (Mom's got the Date with a Vampire, Alley Cats Strike, Prom Queen, The Marc Hall Story) Vandervoort got a leading role in CTV's drama for teens called Instant Star. The show was on for four seasons. Then, in 2006 Vandervoort made her acting debut in a feature film titled The Lookout alongside Jeff Daniels, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Matthew Goode and Isla Fisher. Vandervoort's television career began with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Her next project was the role as Clark Kent's Kryptonian cousin "Kara Kent", (the woman who would become Supergirl) on The CW serial-drama Smallville. The season 7 episode was the first time she was a regular in the series. She was featured in "Bloodline" which was the eighth season episode. The actress returned to Smallville for two more episodes during the final season of the show, also her tenth. In the aftermath of The CW, Vandervoort shot the sequel to Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2 : The Reef. The Jazzman was her next independent film. It also featured Canadian stars Michael Ironside and Corey Sevier.
